Sunday Jan. 21st, from 11:30 to 12:30 PM (following meditation from 10 to 11 AM):
BOOK SIGNING and FREE CHAIR YOGA CLASS given by Jean Erlbaum, author of SIT WITH LESS PAIN: Gentle Yoga for Meditators and Everyone Else.  Jean will share why she was asked to write Sit with Less Pain, and she will lead participants through a 30-minute sample chair yoga class based on the techniques in her book.  Participants can purchase Sit with Less Pain and companion CDs at the event.  Jean will be available to answer questions and sign copies of her book after the talk and sample class.

About the Book:  Sit with Less Pain is for anyone who wants to relieve the discomfort that comes from prolonged sitting – at a desk, behind the wheel, or on a meditation cushion.  It includes easy-to-follow exercises organized anatomically, so readers can immediately focus on the part of the body that causes them pain: tense shoulders, stiff knees, sore hips, etc.  Sit with Less Pain also includes a section combining exercises into smooth sequences for readers who have mastered the individual stretches and want a more complete experience.  Clear illustrations and lay-flat binding – which lets the book stay open at the proper page – will help readers perfect the poses. Gentle Mat and Chair Yoga poses are offered in the book so everyone can find a level of stretching that works for them.

A resident of Naples, Jean has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1972. She is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance registered master yoga instructor.  In addition to a master’s degree in education, she holds certificates in Integral and Atma Hatha Yoga, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, and Psychosynthesis Counseling.  Erlbaum was certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester.  A student of Zen meditation for forty years, Jean was designated as a senior Dharma teacher in 2012 by Boundless Way Zen.
